“Designing meaningful and innovative solutions that serve the intended users begins with understanding their needs, hopes and aspirations for the future.” (IDEO, 2011) ​Therefore the chosen approach builds on empathy, which is regarded as understanding the other cognitively and emotionally in his/ her situation, experience and needs. Integrating tested empathy tools that incorporate active listening, participation and co-creation throughout the design process allows context-appropriate assessment. This inspires design ideas, capable of producing effective solutions that have a sustainable impact in the addressed locality and its surroundings.
